The Commodore 1650 was the first true direct connect model from Commodore,
marketed at the Commodore 64 user. Strangely enough, despite the fact
that this modem is relatively rare, "clones" of the 1650 were extremely
common in the early-mid 1980s, making it the standard for Commodore
modems.
